Academia
In my country, organized PRC-connected student groups, such as Chinese Students and Scholars Associations (CSSAs), are involved in attempts to censor staff or students (e.g. by harassing students protesting human rights abuses in the PRC, or formally complaining about the identification of Taiwan as a country in lecture slides).

This happens, for example in late 2019 at the TUB (Berlin Technology University). However it is not considered to be extremely wide. However I give this a 3 (rather than a 2) due to the impact of such actions on a self-censoring German academic community, which believes it is dependent on China. In addition, efforts to expose this kind of thing generally meet with push-back from the university (see the example of FUB, 2019), thus indicating the problem is systemic and quite deep.

There have been multiple cases of PRC student disruption of protests (most commonly protests held by Hong Kongese students). Though it is difficult to distinguish the extent to which the reaction by PRC students is organic or pre-organised via groups such as the CSSA, there are instances where CSSA involvement has been demonstrated. The linked report includes reference to two instances where CSSA involvement was apparent – in Manchester and Leeds.

Although the Chinese students in Taiwan have attempted to censor, report or damage the expression that doesn't align with their stand, but it is only committed by individuals. In February 2019, the Taiwan Affairs Office sent a message through the University Entrance Committee for Mainland Chinese Students to Fu Jen Catholic University and National Cheng Kung University, requesting them to stop the professors expressing their own ideology and to reduce the quota of recruiting Chinese students. After June 2019, when the Anti-extradition protest was at its highest, many Hong Kong students studying in Taiwan used their ways to show support the movement. However, there were Chinese students who felt offended seeing their expression, and caused multiple violent encounters in Soochow University, Chinese Culture University, Shih Hsin University, National Sun Yat-sen University and I-Shou University.

Student organizations in Singapore are tightly controlled by the state, including the CSSA. This limits their activities. There are sporadic reports of CSSA members or PRC students complaining about course content offends PRC sensibilities. However, they have not yet become a force that puts academics and others in a position to be wary and engage in self-censorship. The CSSA in Singapore is known to have links with the PRC Embassy in Singapore, which helps sponsor some of their events.
Supplementary Notes
Even though the role of CSSAs are unclear, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) told their faculty in writing that there was a directive from MOE to not refer to Taiwan and Hong Kong as anything that might be construed as "countries." To the best of my knowledge, we never received anything similar at NUS. I'm not heard of a similar directive at either SMU or SUSS. (See attachment.) At NTU, non-Singapore based scholar was told to remove all references to "Republic of China" from slides in a talk--even though this person is a historian who works on World War II. The scholar was told to use "China" instead. The organizer telling the academic to do so is a PRC scholar based in at NTU. A possible explanation may be the fact that NTU has far closer ties with the PRC, with the flagship training it offers to mayors from the PRC. NUS has a similar program for provincial officials, but it is much smaller. There may be faculty who are more willing to convey their preferences to a university administration more sensitive to such issues even if there is no formal role for a CSSA. Across universities, some faculty have reported PRC students possibly complaining or putting in negative evaluations for emphasis on Taiwan, although this is anecdotal. Possibly because the identities of complainants or evaluations cannot be clearly ascertained. Whether such actions are motivated by the CSSA is unclear, even though the CSSAs have close ties with the PRC embassy. (See attached image)

There is not many Chinese students studying in Indonesia, as Indonesia’s higher education quality is not well-known for having a good reputation. Thus, it is highly unlikely for Chinese students to choose Indonesia as a destination for higher education. That said, there are no student groups in Indonesia that are connected to the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSAs) nor had there been attempts of censorship from such affiliations. Most students groups affiliated with CSSA are established in western countries.

There are likely no Chinese students studying in Turkmenistan as the country has strict rules prohibiting foreigners to live in Turkmenistan. A 2014 article, "Professor Minavar Abibra of the Department of Uyghur Language and Literature was awarded the Makhtoum Kuri Feilager Award by the President of Turkmenistan" says that the PRC only has one expert on the Turkmen language.
