As the report named "Belt and Road International Media Cooperation: Refinement Can Be Better" revealed, Medias from Turkmenistan are part of the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) Media Cooperation Forum, one of the Turkmen media even signed joint statement of the Forum. SREB is one half of Belt and Road. As Turkmenistan have amongst the worse ranked media freedoms in the world, the few state-owned medias are authoritative as Turkmen public have no access to any other alternatives. Since Turkmen media (all of them are state controlled) have cooperation with the PRC, it can be interpreted as a state-approved decision to work closer with the PRC in media cooperation. This can reflect Chinese influence towards foreign priority of Turkmenistan, in the sense that Turkmen state wants their public to know the government is working with the PRC. Significant in this sense, not in the sense of PRC actually being able to influence Turkmen media.

According to a 31-year-old Zambian youth, who has worked on a Chinese project and has informal ties with the youth of the Patriotic Front in Zambia, sections of Zambian media were indeed captive to Chinese media organizations. The respondent argued that during the PF, reportage on China by government media houses was favorable. As an example, he cited the article in a Zambian paper that was published in Chinese. It could be assessed in URL 1. However, upon verification, this seems not to be the case. Zambian journalists are not affiliated with media organizations which are members of the Belt and Road Media Cooperation Alliance/Union, the Belt and Road News Alliance, or other Belt and Road media networks that connected to PRC. In fact occasionally they have been very critical as can be deduced from URL 2.

“This text offers a brief evaluation of how dynamism of China-Uzbekistan bilateral relationship may be transformed to synergy necessary for the success of the BRI initiative. This will be done in three parts. First part briefly underlines the overlap between New Strategy of Development of Uzbekistan and the BRI of China. The Belt and Road Initiative and Uzbekistan’s New Strategy of Development: Sustainability of mutual relevance and positive dynamics, available at: Link's_New_Strategy_of_Development_Sustainability_of_mutual_relevance_and_positive_dynamics “The Uzbek regime has been very actively engaged in Internet censorship, closing down and threatening local websites and blocking certain external sites. Though their ability to block outside websites doesn’t seem to be nearly as comprehensive as China’s, it would be beneficial for groups that have taken an interest in providing advice on avoiding the censors in China to add Uzbekistan as a focus country.” Link

A Dutch NGO, RNW Media, largely funded by the Dutch ministry of foreign affairs is listed on the BRNN website. The CEO seems to have addressed a session of Media Cooperation Forums on the Belt and Road. The NGO is active with media projects in China, but is not a dutch media organization: the status of RNW Media is not very clear, and it is based in Hilversum, the Netherlands.
